It is the state of being pregnant; the period from conception to birth when a woman carries a developing fetus in her uterus.
Human Pregnancy lasts 9 months or 40 weeks or more specifically 266 days. It can be split in trimester where we can observe various changes.
Trimester 1
You can then expect many pregnancy symptoms including breast changes, tiredness, nausea and vomiting, frequent urination. At the end of this period, the uterus would have grown into the size of a grapefruit while the foetus inside is the size of a cherry. The baby will grow from being a mass of cells to having a heartbeat, reflexes and the ability to move its limbs.
Trimester 2
Your belly will start to show the baby growing inside you. You will experience pregnancy discomforts such as sleeping problems as well as contractions (known as Braxton Hicks contractions). During the second trimester, your baby will grow hair all over its body and the senses will begin to develop. At the end of the trimester, the baby will measure about 10 inches (25cm) and will start its kicking movement.
Trimester 3
More changes happen to your body. You will need to urinate frequently and your belly will look like it is ready to explode. Both you and the baby are then looking forward to delivery day.
During pregnancy (and breastfeeding) the level of hormones change and can cause dry or drier skin and mucosa. Women are thus likely to suffer from dry or flaky skin, vaginal dryness and dry nipples. Moisturising your body is therefore very important to prevent such conditions.
